I am an applied microeconomist in the fields of labour and health. The objective of my research is to assess the role of policy in addressing marginalization by: (1) characterizing the distribution and determinants of health and economic well-being; and (2) evaluating the intended and unintended consequences of policy interventions.
My research addresses issues that are pertinent to individuals and families in rural and remote communities, Indigenous Peoples, visible minority groups and those of low socio-economic status. This includes risky health behaviours, self-reported health and subjective well-being, food insecurity, poverty and inequality, and labour market outcomes. I also have emerging research on water insecurity and environmental racism in Indigenous communities.
I am a Canadian citizen and, despite working in the United States for the past eight years, my research continues to be anchored in the Canadian context.
