I am an applied microeconomist in the fields of labour and health. The objective of my research is to: (1) characterize the distribution and determinants of economic well-being and health; and (2) evaluate the intended and unintended consequences of social policy interventions.
My research addresses issues that are pertinent to individuals and families in rural and remote communities, Indigenous Peoples and other economically vulnerable populations. This includes risky health behaviours, self-reported health and subjective well-being, food insecurity, poverty and inequality, and labour market outcomes. I also have emerging research on water insecurity and environmental justice in Indigenous communities.
Despite working in the United States for the past nine years, my research has continued to be anchored in the Canadian context. I recently returned to Canada, and I am actively seeking employment in applied research and policy.
